Dear Colleagues, It is our great pleasure to inform you about the upcoming International Conference "Nonlinear Optics: East-West Reunion" and to invite you to attend it and make it a great scientific event. The Conference is devoted to 50 years of nonlinear optics and its organizers intend to cover different aspects of this fascinating field of science. Our primary goal is to discuss the advance made by nonlinear optics by the beginning of the 21st century and to commemorate the pioneers of this field of science.
We expect that about 150 researchers involved in nonlinear optical studies will take part in the Conference. These will be the founding fathers of nonlinear optics, including P. Agostini (Ohio State University), R. Alfano (New York City College) to be confirmed, F. Bunkin (General Physics Institute RAS, Moscow), R. Chiao (University of California, Merced), E. Dianov (Fiber Optic Research Center, Moscow), V. Dmitriev (Scientific Production Association "POLUS", Moscow),
Gy. Farkas (Central Research Institute for Physics, Budapest), G Freidman (Institute of Applied Physics RAS, Nizhny Novgorod), A. Hill (Quantum Physics Institute, Texas A&M University), J.P. Huignard (THALES, Palaiseau), L. Keldysh (Lebedev Physical Institute RAS, Moscow), P. Kelley (M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory), G. Kirillov (Russian Federal Nuclear Center, Sarov), O. Krokhin (Lebedev Physical Institute RAS, Moscow), A. Mak (Vavilov State Optical Institute, St.Petersburg), A. Manenkov (General Physics Institute RAS, Moscow), F. Martin (Stanford University), A. Mysyrowicz (ENSTA, Palaiseau), N. Narozhny (National Nuclear Research University "MEPhI", Moscow),
P. Pashinin (General Physics Institute RAS, Moscow), A. Piskarskas (Vilnius University) to be confirmed, C. Rhodes (University of Illinois, Chicago), Yuen-Ron Shen (University of California, Berkeley), D. Strickland (University of Waterloo), S. Sukharev (Russian Federal Nuclear Center, Sarov), A. Sukhorukov (Moscow State University), V. Talanov (Institute of Applied Physics RAS, Nizhny Novgorod), J.P. Taran (ONERA, Paris), R. Terhune (Stanford University), V. Zakharov (Lebedev Physical Institute RAS, Moscow), J. Zyss (Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan),  as well as the researchers who have made valuable contributions to the current progress in nonlinear optics.
We are looking forward to presentations and discussions of the latest developments in nonlinear optics and invite you to join the community in Suzdal in September 2011.

Conference Chairmen
Alexander Litvak
Gerard Mourou

The scope of the Conference with reference to the history of nonlinear optics and state-of-the-art includes but is not restricted to the following topics:

generation of laser radiation harmonics
optical parametric processes
self-focusing phenomenon
supercontinuum
optical solitons
nonlinear optical materials and media

The Conference is organized by
Institute of Applied Physics, RAS, Nizhny Novgorod
University of Nizhny Novgorod
General Physics Institute RAS, Moscow
Moscow State University
Institute of Extreme Light, Paris
Vladimir State University
Kvantron-NN Ltd., Nizhny Novgorod
The Conference will be held in the town of Suzdal situated north-east of Moscow, 26 kilometers from the city of Vladimir. The history of the town dates back to at least the year 1024. Today, the town that is part of the Golden Ring is an important tourist center featuring many fine examples of old Russian art and architecture.
